Hello,
I'm trying to configure A5 for a 1024x728 screen (on GNU system).
I've reduce the police scale but that don't help so much.
It's very uncomfortable because the window don't fill in the screen!
Maybe there is some trick for this case?

Not sure what you mean by 'police scale'...
There's an adjustment for text font sizes which usually helps with this.

What desktop font are you using?

Ardour use the desktop as base for the GUI. Using a Sans 11pt default
Desktop font it should be possible to get Ardour's GUI on a 1024 x 768
screen with 100% font-scaling. Worst case 90%.

The main issue on modern desktops is a huge window border and decoration
and task-bar that reduce vertical available space. Width is usually less
of an issue.

quick test: Loading Image...

What is the smallest height on your system? What tab does set the
minimum height? perhaps try to detach the preferences tab and mixer tab
(using Ardour's Window menu).

Yes.

I've tried something, nothing best. Looks strange, check the screenshoots.

Did you try to detach editor, mixer and preferences and check which of
those windows forces the minimum size?

It's Menu > Window > ... > detach

It also looks like some french translations force the GUI to be larger
than needed. The "Retour automatique" button for example..

Hello.
I think I've found the problem, it comes from french translation.

So in 1024x768 I was not able to reduce the size of the editor screen,
particularly width.
I see "glisser", "tête de lecture", "*","temps" and "souris" buttons too
bigs, with big empty space after text (cf previous screenshot).
"gui font scaling" can't solve the problem. Even "purge" the tool bar
(remove everything) don't help.

But "don't use translation" option resolve the problem.

Actually, I can't use A5.12 in french with 1024x768 screen. It's
regrettable because it's for childreen (and they prefer their own langage).
